Project Mushroom is launching a Kickstarter - tonight! 🍄

We've got a very important announcement to make:

Our Kickstarter launches tonight!

We're launching a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter tonight and we’d love your help!

There's a sense of urgency here: In just the past few hours, hundreds more people have quit Twitter after the richest person in the world insisted on unethical working conditions. Insiders believe the whole service could crash in a matter of days.

We're working around the clock to build a fully-functional social media experience that's even better than Twitter. We want (and frankly, we deserve) a way of connecting with each other that prioritizes safety and justice, that treats us like humans and not "content creators" for billionaires, and that lifts up the voices of people who have been systemically marginalized — to demand action in every aspect of society around the world.

We need it to be ready ASAP, so we're hiring developers, DEI facilitators, and UX designers, and ex-Twitter people with knowledge of how to prioritize anti-harassment and safe online communities. And all that costs money.

In talking with many of you, we heard that creating an easy to use platform focused on safety and action is of utmost importance for Project Mushroom. To help make sure that can happen, we’ve set a goal for this Kickstarter campaign is to reach $200,000. Your support — in kind, through your networks, or directly — allows us to scale our collective efforts quickly and implement many of the suggestions you have given us. It will help us hire UI & UX designers, site engineers, product managers, and community leaders.

By sharing our Kickstarter with your network our shared dream has a better chance of becoming a reality. Your early support will help us build early momentum.

We are also still looking for in-kind support from lawyers who can help incorporate a non-profit. If you have any questions or concerns or comments about any of this, please reach out to me directly: eric@currentlyhq.com

Thank you for helping us bring Project Mushroom to life.

The Project Mushroom Kickstarter is launching TONIGHT at midnight! (Eastern time, US. Check here for the time in your time zone)

Coming soon: Project Mushroom
A community platform for justice and action on an overheating planet.

Your support will help us collectively build a platform that creates connection, knowledge and action.

Our plans are ambitious.

Your support will open doors to a new social media platform and a whole new online experience — including integrated newsletters, podcasts, and live events — all focused on creating systematic change on an overheating planet.

Your support at any level helps us immensely — even just sharing the link on Twitter (ugh), Facebook, group chats, or anywhere you do the world of building a vision for a better world.

We're doing this together, for each other. I can't wait to see what's next.

In solidarity,

Eric
